_____The endless realities…

She is a hospital, counselor’s couch, judge’s chamber, a chef in the kitchen, mender of socks, detective, and teacher. Farmer, designer, 24/7 transportation, referee, cheerleader, mentor, future-teller, shopper, and provider. She is a sports enthusiast, dancing queen, silent one, the fan club of another heart to bloom, preacher of truth, priest who forgives, and miracle worker. She is an adventurer, friend, disciplinarian, librarian, botanist, hairstylist, and veterinarian…. _____.

She is a mother to babies, toddlers, adolescents, young adults, and those fully grown. She parents her own and those who did not come from her womb.

She learns what to do with smelling salts, epsom salts, bath oils, diffusing oils, healing balms, and bandaids. Hmmm, maybe even uses shovels, aims guns, functions well with the hammer, tractors, assembles with drills, and prunes with rotary saws.

She is known to become
an πŸ¦…eagle in intuitive insights,
a protector mother bear🐻,
a hugger🧸,
a lioness🦁,
a peacemakerπŸ•Š,
a deep diver for solutions and truth🐳,
a wisdom seekerπŸ¦‰.

She shows up to work in stilettos with cheerios stuck in her hair, tears on the back of her hand, and chuckles at the last hilarious “naughty” thing her toddler did.

She drives up to school car lines strengthened for her day or in pajamas and curlers while content or sad, maybe lost or found, even choosing a wrong way in life or walking in wisdom. Is she angry at her teen or over it with her husband? Is she momentarily strong due to accolades or feels alone due to oversight? Energized. Confident and a confidante. Exhausted from the waiting list of errands or lack of fresh air? πŸŒ¬πŸ•ŠShe is comfortable now because she took 2 minutes to breathe with Jesus or feels far from Him due to forgetfulness. She’s stunned by the choices chosen, grieved due to losing one’s time, and even resistant to truth. She is awakened in the night hours to intercede for her children; she herself needs God’s Mother-heart to pass through such fires. To love is to laugh, cry, celebrate, achieve, be silent, stand firm, and give through those god-awful or god-gifted ‘try again’ moments.

Motherhood is a diamond in the rough, something never perfect but constantly forming. So, cover her with mercy and approach her in grace. Love her with boldness, and forgive her through the Cross. Appreciate her the courage to ask her what she perceives as the canvas in the process of being created.

God chooses her children. God chooses her, never making a mistake. For their best future, each child is given and needs that specific mother’s identity. There are no two mothers alike, no two fathers alike, no two families the same. Children are perfectly placed. Each yielded to Jesus learns the gift of family, whether through fires or gentle rains.

She sees the soul of the child; learns of his spirit, heart, will, mind, emotions, and body. Inviting Jesus into her parenting opens her awareness of her child’s purpose of why they were sent to earth. Yes, critical to learning the gift of loving God and receiving God is walking humbly in His ways.

The beauty of motherhood is found in the sustainability of God’s opinion and assistance in such a position granted. Why? It is because He Created this IDENTITY. Without God, there would be no mother. This identity carries a title, function, posture, and power due to His creating motherhood; not in self-perfection do mothers achieve; instead, through the yielded nature of one’s soul to Christ, she comes into maturity.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you, Mommas!
Mommas who carried in your natural wombs.
Mommas who love through fostering.
Mommas who cherish by adoption.
Mommas who disciple those who are called spiritual children.
Yes, all through the strength of the God-given design called Mothering.
